synopsis novel Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is an orphan whose parents died by a typhus (a serious infectious disease that produces spot on the skin, a high fever, and a severe headache). When she was ten years old, she lived with her mother’s brother’s family, Mr. Reed family. Since Mr. Reed died, her aunt and three cousins became very wicked. Mrs. Reed treated her unfairly among her cousins, while her cousins often bullied her roughly. Even Jane was ever locked in a dark frightening room alone by Mrs. Reed for she had fought with one of her cousin, john. After that incident, she was sick; and her nurse, Bessie, called Mr. Lloyd as one of family doctor to check Jane’s condition. Feeling alone, suffered and needed someone else to share, Jane told about her aunt’s wicked treatment to Mr. Lloyd. Jane told that she wanted to leave the house. Knowing that, Mr. Lloyd talked to Mrs. Reed to send Jane school. Months went by, and came a stranger whose name Mr. Brocklehurst giving Jane a book related to a school named Lowood. The invitation of the stranger by Mrs. Reed intended to send Jane to Lowood School that actually a charity school.

Some months later, Jane was at the school; at first, she had an uncomfortable feeling because of the unsatisfied little food and loneliness. Besides, Mr. Brocklehurst, the school owner, had told the whole teachers to keep attention on her as a result of untruth story about her naughty behavior that Mrs. Reed had told to Mr. Brocklehurst. All pupils considered Jane as a liar. She felt solitary at all until one day she met a friend, Helen, who became her best friend then. Helen and the only teacher who believed her, Mrs. Temple, helped her to tell to others that Jane was not a liar, and she was acceptable in the school. One day, the typhus fever attacked most pupils included Helen; as a result, she died. Jane continued her life in the school for eight years as a pupil and also teacher until one day she made an advertisement to be a governess.

 As the answer of her advertisement, Jane went to a place named Thornfield Hall to work as a governess. Jane taught a little girl named Adel who had been adopted by a lonely rich man named Mr. Rochester. Being long time in that place, Jane and Mr. Rochester loved each other and decided to get married. On the wedding-day, in a church, prior to the nuptials, suddenly there was a man who came in the church and said that the marriage could not be continued. The man told that Mr. Rochester had a mad wife who had been jailed in a inner in that house. Knowing that, Jane left Mr. Rochester, and went to Millcote.

In Millcote, Jane met three siblings Diana, Mary Rivers and St. John, a clergyman. At first, she lived with them until one day she found a job as a teacher and moved to a new house to life alone. One day, after finding a surprised fact that Jane’s father was his mother’s brother, St. John came to Jane, and told the truth that Jane was he and his sisters’ cousin. They all got twenty thousand pounds as a legacy from their uncle of Madeira, John Eyre. They lived together in Moor House happily. Still loving Mr. Rochester, Jane refused to marry to St. John and decided to meet Mr. Rochester.

She went to Thornfield Hall, and found the place had been destroyed by a fire. After Jane got information about Mr. Rochester’s existence, she went to Ferndean Manor. Arriving in that place, she met Mr. Rochester, and was surprised with his physical condition. As a result of the fire incident, he lost his right hand and two eyes, but that condition did not reduce Jane’s love to him and so did Mr. Rochester to Jane. Jane willingly became his eyes and right hand in the rest of their life. Jane married to Mr. Rochester and had a son; they lived happily with the son and Adel.
